1. Information we process

Photos and generated previews

When you choose a photo and request a hairstyle preview, we process the photo and the choices you make, such as the selected hairstyle and color, to provide the preview.

• Demo mode. In Demo mode, your selected photo is processed in your browser. It is not uploaded to BeforeChop, and we do not receive or store the photo.
• AI try-on mode. If you choose an AI-powered try-on, your selected photo is sent to our AI processing provider (currently LaoZhang / laozhang.ai) to generate the preview you requested. We use the photo for that purpose only.
• Generated previews. We process the generated preview so that it can be displayed to you and made available for download or sharing where those features are offered.

Information stored in your browser

We use browser storage to remember limited information needed to operate the experience, including your remaining look credits or pack status, applied promo preference (if any), and waitlist email on this device. This information is stored on your device and can be removed by clearing BeforeChop site data in your browser. Where available, footer controls can also reset local demo or credit settings.

Waitlist and contact information

If you join our waitlist or contact us, we process the information you provide, such as your email address, name, and the content of your request, so that we can notify you about product updates (including paid packs), respond to support, and operate the Services. Waitlist emails may be stored with our email provider (Resend) or a Google Sheet when that integration is configured.

Technical information

Like most online services, our website and service providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Services. This may include device and browser information, IP address, pages or features used, timestamps, and error or diagnostic information. Analytics tools we enable (such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or TikTok Pixel), if configured, may also collect similar technical and usage data according to their settings.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide, operate, and maintain the hairstyle try-on service;
• generate the preview you request;
• remember local settings, credit status, and waitlist preference on your device;
• notify you about product launches or updates when you join the waitlist;
• respond to support requests;
• protect the Services, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot technical issues; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms where necessary.

We do not use your photo for advertising. We do not sell your photos or personal information.

3. AI processing and third-party service providers

When AI try-on mode is enabled, we share the photo required for your requested preview with our AI processing provider (currently LaoZhang / laozhang.ai), which processes the photo as an AI service provider. Your photo may also be processed by hosting, security, analytics, email, and support providers when this is necessary to operate the Services (for example Vercel for hosting and Resend for waitlist email).

We require service providers to process personal information only for the services they provide to us and in accordance with applicable agreements and law. A provider’s handling of information may also be subject to its own terms and privacy documentation.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, protect the rights, safety, and security of BeforeChop, our users, or others, or as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.

4. AI training and product improvement

We do not use photos submitted for a try-on to train our own AI models unless we clearly tell you beforehand and obtain any consent required by law.

Third-party AI providers process photos under their own terms. We configure providers for generating the preview you request. If a provider’s terms allow retention, review, or use of inputs or outputs for training, evaluation, debugging, or model improvement, that practice is governed by the provider’s documentation. Contact us if you need current provider details for a privacy request.

5. Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Services, resolve disputes, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

• In Demo mode, BeforeChop does not receive or retain the selected photo.
• For AI try-on mode, BeforeChop does not intentionally retain a copy of your photo after the requested preview has been generated, except where retention is necessary for security, troubleshooting, legal compliance, or another purpose disclosed in this Policy. The AI provider may process the photo transiently to return the result under its own retention practices.
• Waitlist emails are retained until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them for launch notifications and related operations.
• Generated previews shown in your session, local browser settings, support messages, analytics events, and technical records may be retained for different periods depending on how and where they are stored.

6. Your choices and rights

You can choose not to upload a photo or to use Demo mode instead of AI try-on mode. You may also:

• manage camera and photo-library permissions through your device or browser settings;
• clear BeforeChop site data in your browser to remove locally stored settings and waitlist email;
• use available footer controls to reset local credit or demo settings where offered;
• unsubscribe from marketing or waitlist communications, if we send them, by following the instructions in the message or contacting us; and
• contact us to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of personal information we hold about you, where applicable law provides those rights.

To make a privacy request, contact us at privacy@beforechop.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Your rights may vary depending on where you live.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International processing

BeforeChop and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

9. Children’s privacy and photos of other people

The Services are not intended for children under the age of 13. Do not use the Services or submit personal information if you do not meet the applicable age requirement.

If you upload a photo of another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the authority and any consent needed to do so.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy on this page and change the effective date above. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
